  • France is in the Schengen Area: US, UK, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other passport holders may enter visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Other nationalities need a short-stay Schengen visa (EUR 90).
  • ETIAS will be required for visa-exempt non-EU travellers. Expected launch in Q4 2026; it is NOT yet in force as of July 2026. Fee EUR 20, valid 3 years; free for travellers under 18 or over 70.
  • The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) — biometric border registration — began rollout on 10 April 2026, replacing manual passport stamping at Schengen external borders.
  • Schengen visa fee: EUR 90 full; EUR 45 for children 6-12; free for under-6s and family members of EU/EEA/Swiss citizens.
