What does the app actually do?

One thing: it turns a trip into an itemized packing checklist and lets you tick it off. That's the whole first release — no visa lookups, no baggage rules, no maps.

Does it work without a connection?

Yes. The list is generated once and stored on the device, and ticking items off works in airplane mode. Building a fresh list — and the weather-based notes on it — needs a connection, so it's worth generating the list before you leave.

Is it free? Do I need an account?

Free, and no account. There is nothing to sign up for inside the app.

Is it the same list as the website?

Yes — the app calls the same packing engine this site runs on, so a trip planned in either place produces the same packs and the same totals. The app breaks them into individual items you can check off.

Which phones does it run on?

iPhone and Android. We'll list the minimum OS versions here once the store listings are published.

Will you email me about anything else?

No. One message when the build for the phone you picked is live, and that's it. Nothing is being sent from this list today.

What it does today

One job, done properly

The first release does exactly what the website's calculator does, and nothing else. Here is the whole of it, honestly.

Trip in, checklist out

The same packing engine as this site — destination, dates, trip type and who's coming — turned into individual items you can tick off, scaled to the size of your party.

Works with no signal

The list is built once and stored on the phone. Ticking things off needs no connection, no account and no sign-in — which is the point, because you pack where the WiFi isn't.

Weight that adds up

Every item carries an approximate weight, and they sum to the pack totals you already see on the website. So the number at the bottom of the screen is the number you'll be carrying.

How it works

Tell it the trip

Destination, dates, what you'll be doing and how many of you are going. Roughly a minute.

Get the checklist

Items grouped by pack, with quantities, weights and a short reason for anything unusual — a rain jacket because rain is forecast, the power bank in the cabin bag because it has to be.

Pack it offline

Close the connection and tick items off as they go in the bag. The list stays on your phone.
