About Montréal-Trudeau (YUL)

Montréal-Trudeau is Canada's third-busiest airport — 22.4 million passengers in 2025 — and the main hub of Air Canada and Air Transat. It sits in Dorval, about 20 km west of downtown, 20–45 minutes by road depending on traffic. Everything runs from a single terminal with three sectors: domestic, international and transborder (US). A major terminal expansion is under way through the late 2020s, so expect curbside congestion at peak times.
Two planning points matter. First, YUL has US preclearance: on flights to the United States you clear American immigration and customs before boarding and land as a domestic arrival — arrive about 3 hours early. Second, there is no rail link yet: the REM light-rail station at the airport is under construction and expected to open by late 2027, promising a ~20-minute ride downtown.
Until then, the 747 Express bus is the best-value ride in North American aviation: CAD $11.25, running 24/7 to downtown and Berri-UQAM — and the fare is actually a 24-hour pass for the whole bus, métro and Zone A network. Buy it from the machines in arrivals or the Chrono app; on board it's exact coins only. Taxis charge a fixed CAD $49.45 to downtown (CAD $56.70 at night), with Uber and Eva at similar prices.
