Good to know

  • Greece applies the Schengen/EU common visa list (Council Regulation (EC) No 539/2001, as amended, and EU Regulation 2018/1806): nationals of visa-exempt countries (all EU/EEA states plus 90+ others, e.g. Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, USA) may enter without a visa for stays not exceeding 90 days in any 180-day period.
  • Nationals of visa-required countries (including Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, China, India, Russia and most African and Middle Eastern states) must obtain a Schengen visa in advance.
  • Some visa-exempt statuses apply only to biometric-passport holders, or only to diplomatic/service passports, or are capped at 90 days for specific nationalities (e.g. Grenada, Solomon Islands) — check the ministry's full country list for a specific passport.
  • The page does not publish visa fees or processing times — applicants are directed to contact the relevant Greek consulate.
Part of the Schengen area

Greece has been a Schengen member since 2000: no passport checks at internal borders, one 90/180-day allowance for visitors.
