- Since 1 January 2026, every tourist entering Georgia must hold a valid health and accident insurance policy — this applies regardless of nationality or visa-free status; it is separate from visa rules.
- Minimum coverage: 30,000 GEL (approx. USD 11,000 / EUR 10,000), covering the entire stay from arrival to departure.
- Policy must be presented in paper or electronic form, written in Georgian or English, issued by a Georgian or foreign insurer.
- Rule derives from Georgia's Law on Tourism (Art. 12), implemented by Government Decree No. 602 (in force since 1 Jan 2026); not retroactive.
- Exempt: accredited diplomatic/consular/international-organisation staff and family; persons covered by international treaties; international freight/passenger drivers.
- Enforcement is inconsistent in practice — some travellers report not being asked for proof at Tbilisi airport or land borders, others are questioned — but carrying proof is strongly advised.
- EU, UK, US, Canada, Australia, Japan and many other nationalities continue to enter visa-free; others can apply via the e-Visa portal, evisa.gov.ge.

Right on the Black Sea coast and minutes from downtown — also close to the Sarpi crossing into Turkey. Routes are strongly seasonal, with the busiest schedule from May to September.

Georgia's main gateway — the widest airline network and the fastest way into the capital. Bus 337 or the Bolt app get you into Freedom Square in under an hour.
Kutaisi (KUT) — budget alternative
Budget carriersWizz Air's two-aircraft base at Kutaisi often beats Tbilisi fares from the same European cities. Georgian Bus and Omnibus Express run coaches timed to flight arrivals straight to Tbilisi's Liberty Square, about 3.5–4 hours away — a well-worn budget-traveller route.
