About Chișinău Eugen Doga International (RMO)

Chișinău is Moldova's only airport with scheduled passenger flights, handling around 4 million passengers a year through a single compact terminal — roughly ten check-in desks and five gates, so queues bunch around waves of departures. Home carrier FLYONE runs the biggest network, Wizz Air is back with a base since December 2024, and HiSky, Turkish Airlines, Lufthansa, Austrian and Pegasus fill out the map. Two renames are worth knowing: the IATA code changed from KIV to RMO in January 2024, and in 2025 the airport was named after composer Eugen Doga — old bookings and signs may still show the old identity.

The airport lies about 13 km southeast of central Chișinău, a 20–25 minute drive. The cheapest way in is a Chișinău classic: trolleybus 30 stops right outside the terminal and runs straight to the centre for 6 lei (~€0.30), every 15–25 minutes from about 05:30 to 23:30; pay the conductor on board, ideally in cash. Bus 33 also serves the centre and railway station but stops ~250 m from the terminal.

For taxis, skip anyone offering rides inside arrivals — order through an app (Yandex Go, Bolt, Hip, Letz) or use the official rank; expect roughly 100–150 lei (€5–8) to the centre. With the terminal this small, arriving 2 hours before a flight is plenty outside peak waves.

Good to know

  • Free Wi-Fi works everywhere in the terminal, including the airside (sterile) zone after security.
  • The official allowance is up to 5 hours within 3 days of your first connection — you can split it into as many sessions as you like within that window.
  • The airport doesn't publish the network name or login steps — verify the SSID on-site and confirm the portal shows the airport's branding before entering anything.
  • Note the airport was renamed Chișinău Eugen Doga International and its IATA code changed from KIV to RMO — double-check bookings and signage.

This airport uses a WiFi sign-in page

You will pass through a captive portal — a web page — before you get online. It is worth treating as untrusted: a legitimate one asks you to accept terms, enter an email or type an SMS code. It never asks you to install an update or run a command.

Shared network · security

Shared airport WiFi. A VPN encrypts your traffic once you're on it.

On a shared network, anyone nearby can see which sites you open. A VPN encrypts your traffic after you're connected, and lets you reach home banking and apps that block foreign IPs. It does not cover the sign-in page itself, or anything you're persuaded to install.
