About Lille Airport (LIL)
Lille-Lesquin is a compact regional airport of about 2 million passengers a year, sitting just 11 km southeast of Lille — 15–20 minutes by road. The network is almost entirely French domestic and Mediterranean/North African leisure: Ryanair, easyJet, Transavia, a fast-growing Volotea base, plus Air Algérie and ASL to Algeria. There is no long-haul — for intercontinental trips most travellers connect via Paris CDG or Brussels, both an easy TGV ride from Lille.
The single small terminal makes for painless departures, and its location is handy for the Belgian border too — Tournai and Kortrijk are about 30 minutes away. A terminal extension project has been authorised but is strongly contested locally, so expect occasional works rather than a shiny new building any time soon.
Into town, the Flibco shuttle is the default: ~20 minutes non-stop to Place des Buisses right next to Lille-Flandres station, €7.99 single / €13.99 return, roughly hourly and timed to flights; tickets via app or from the driver (card only), and they're valid on any departure that day. City bus 68 does the same for a ~€2 ilevia ticket but slower; a taxi runs about €25–35. One caution: roadworks on the A1 have stretched the 20-minute shuttle run to 30–75 minutes at peak times — leave margin for your flight.
