- Poland issues three visa types: C-type (Uniform Schengen Visa, up to 90 days in 180 across the whole Schengen area, or Limited Territorial Validity for one/some Schengen states only), D-type (national visa, over 90 days up to one year in Poland, plus up to 90/180 days elsewhere in Schengen), and A-type (airport transit only).
- Nationals of several countries need an airport transit visa even just to pass through a Polish airport's international zone, including Afghanistan, Armenia, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of Congo, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iran, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan and Somalia.
- Both C- and D-type visas require a passport valid 3+ months beyond departure with 2+ blank pages issued within the last 10 years, a completed application, a photo, proof of payment, and travel medical insurance covering at least €30,000. Applicants register via the E-KONSULAT system before applying at the competent consulate.
