- Bolivia classifies foreign nationalities into three groups for tourist entry: Grupo I — no tourist visa required; Grupo II — tourist visa required, obtained in advance WITHOUT prior consultation to migration; Grupo III — tourist visa required WITH prior consultation/authorization from the Dirección General de Migración (DIGEMIG).
- Tourist-visa requirements (Grupos II & III): passport valid at least 6 months; sworn visa-application form (Declaración Jurada); yellow-fever certificate if visiting high-risk endemic areas; travel itinerary or return tickets; DIGEMIG-registered invitation letter or a hotel reservation; proof of economic solvency (bank statement and/or credit card); recent 4x4 photo (red background).
- Grupo III nationals additionally require a DIGEMIG resolution authorizing entry to Bolivian territory.
- Tourist stay is 30 days, extendable up to two further 30-day periods within one year (extension processed with DIGEMIG, subject to fee and requirements). Visas are issued by Bolivian consulates/embassies; an online application system exists at visas.cancilleria.gob.bo.
