- Most foreign nationals may enter Ecuador visa-free as tourists for up to 90 days per year; a passport valid for at least 6 months is required.
- A visa in advance is required for nationals of the countries on the Cancillería's visa-required list (45 countries as of July 2026) — including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Cuba, Egypt, Haiti, India, Nigeria, the Philippines, Venezuela and Vietnam, among others. Check the official list for your nationality; applications go through the official e-Visa portal.
- Haitian nationals must additionally complete a tourist registration (registro turístico) as a prior step before entering Ecuador.
- Guatemala is not on the visa-required list, so Guatemalan nationals may enter visa-free.
