Reagan National Airport (DCA): A Traveler's Guide

Cet article n'est pas encore disponible dans ton langue, il est donc affiché en anglais. Nous travaillons à le traduire prochainement.

DCA is the airport nearest Washington's political core — close enough that you can see the Washington Monument on approach — and that proximity shapes everything about flying here. There are two terminals: Terminal 1 (mostly Spirit and a few others) and the larger Terminal 2, which holds the Metrorail station, most legacy carriers, and the bulk of dining and shops. If you land in Terminal 1, a free shuttle bus connects you to the Metro; Terminal 2 has the station built right into the concourse level.

Security and airspace

DCA is a tightly run airport by design — short runways, a hemmed-in footprint on the Potomac, and airspace shared with some of the most restricted skies in the country. Following the January 2025 midair collision near the airport, flight paths and helicopter routes around DCA have been under sustained scrutiny, and the FAA formalized permanent restrictions on aircraft in the airport's airspace in 2026. Practically, this means you may occasionally hit ground stops or schedule shuffles tied to VIP movements or airspace closures (Independence Day 2026 saw a full airspace shutdown for part of the day) — build in a little slack if you're flying around a major DC event.

Getting into the city

The Metrorail station sits right at Terminal 2, served by the Blue and Yellow lines, and it's the fastest way downtown — about 15–20 minutes to the National Mall or Capitol Hill, with fares running $2.25–$6.75 depending on time and distance (cheaper after 9:30pm and on weekends). Buy a SmarTrip card at the station or tap a contactless card at the faregate. Taxis and rideshares queue at designated curbside zones outside each terminal; expect roughly 15–25 minutes and $15–25 to central DC depending on traffic, which can back up fast on the GW Parkway and 14th Street Bridge during rush hour.

Practical tips

Because DCA is so close-in, even a short weather delay or ground stop ripples fast — check your flight status obsessively if you're connecting elsewhere. And if you're headed downtown for a meeting, the Metro is genuinely faster than a cab most of the day; don't default to a rideshare out of habit.

Noms de réseau officiels

  • #DCA Free WiFi

Connecte-toi uniquement à ces noms de réseau exacts — les faux hotspots dans les aéroports sont une arnaque de phishing courante.

Bon à savoir

  • Join "#DCA Free WiFi" and accept the terms on the landing page — no email or phone number needed.
  • The airport describes the upgraded network as high-speed and fine for streaming or video calls, and it covers both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2.
  • It plays fine with a VPN if you want one for work calls.
  • Airline lounges (Admirals Club, United Club, etc.) run their own separate networks that are usually faster and less congested than the terminal-wide one.
  • If the free network won't load a page, flyreagan.com's Wi-Fi support contact is on their FAQ page.
