Good to know
- The NZeTA (New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority) lets citizens of visa-waiver countries, cruise and cargo-ship passengers, and certain others travel to New Zealand without applying for a visa first. Request it before you travel and allow up to 72 hours for processing.
- Visa-waiver visitors may stay up to 3 months at a time, or up to 6 months for UK passport holders. Nationals not eligible for the NZeTA must apply for a visitor visa in advance.
- The NZeTA costs from NZD$17 and is valid for 2 years (5 years for crew members).
- An International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL) of NZD$100 is also payable, usually together with the NZeTA request.
- Australian citizens do not need an NZeTA or a visa to visit; Australian permanent residents need an NZeTA. Check whether you need a visa or an NZeTA using Immigration New Zealand's official tool.
