- Every traveller needs a visa — Madagascar has no visa-free nationalities. Choose a visa on arrival or an e-Visa (electronic travel authorisation) before departure.
- The e-Visa is a single-entry tourist visa for a maximum of 60 days; stays up to 90 days are handled as a visa on arrival.
- Since 16 February 2026 the short-stay fee (up to 15 days) is €30 / US$35 — previously €10. Fees for 30, 60 and 90-day visas are unchanged.
- The only official portal is evisamada-mg.com, and prices are identical online and on arrival. Beware of look-alike agency sites that add a mark-up.
- Apply between 6 months and 1 week before travel; the e-Visa is issued within 72 hours. Print it or keep it on your phone for the arrival check.
- Carry a passport valid for your whole stay (many airlines expect 6 months) with a blank page, plus proof of onward or return travel.
- Burundi and Palestine passport holders are excluded from both the visa on arrival and the e-Visa.
