Friday night to Sunday afternoon

Weekend camping

Two nights changes what you bring more than people expect: no resupply, no laundry, no hookup worth booking. A phone lasts the weekend, a headlamp covers the rest, and everything on the list has to earn a place in one boot-load.

Three things worth doing
  1. Pack the whole trip into one carry from the car. If it needs two, half of it is not coming.
  2. Cook and freeze one meal at home. The first night is the one where nobody wants to cook.
  3. Skip the electric hookup. Two nights of phone and headlamp sits well inside what a charged power bank covers.
What catches people out
  • Arriving after dark on a Friday is normal; pitching in the dark is not. Get there before sunset or accept you are pitching by torchlight.
  • Sunday checkout is usually 11am, which is earlier than a slow camp breakfast wants to be.
Questions people ask

Yes, and it is the trip most people actually take. The setup cost is one evening either side, and it is the same whether you stay two nights or ten.
