Small bag only for the parade route
Paseo de la Reforma and the Centro Histórico close to traffic for most of the day and get packed shoulder-to-shoulder for the Gran Desfile — bring a small crossbody bag, cash for street vendors, a portable charger, and skip anything you're not prepared to carry for hours.
Cash for ofrendas, marigolds and street food
Street stalls selling pan de muerto, marigold (cempasúchil) flowers, face-painting and calavera souvenirs are largely cash-only during the festival rush — carry small-denomination pesos rather than relying on cards.

Compagnie low-costWest of the capital and handy for Santa Fe or Polanco, less so for the historic centre. Direct coaches run to Terminal Poniente and Santa Fe in roughly 60–90 minutes depending on the pass over Las Cruces.
